|Purpose & main user community of the library||It is the leading collection worldwide for Baptist history and heritage. We welcome all visitors who are interested in Baptist and Nonconformist history.|
|Terms of access||We ask all visitors to make an appointment to come in at least 24 hours in advance.
All visitors are required to provide some form of photographic identity as well as a letter of reference from someone of standing in their community, such as a study supervisor or church leader.
The charge for usage is £5.00 per day. This will be waived for all students.
Fees can be negotiated for longer use.
|Opening hours||We are open from Tuesday to Friday, 9:30-16:30.
We are closed for lunch between 12:30 and 13:30.
The library is also closed throughout August.
|Disabled access||We are situated in a basement and visitors will need to use a flight of stairs to reach us.
The library has a stair lift to help those with mobility problems.
|Lending to other libraries & visitors||It is a closed collection and we do not lend our books to anyone.|
|Number of volumes||We have over 70,000 printed books, pamphlets, journals, church and association records, church histories, manuscript letters and other artefacts.|
|Periodicals – Back Issues||There are over 300 journal titles dating back to the 18th century, with the main focus being on Baptist and Nonconformist life, thought and history.|
|Current Periodicals||We have a wide selection of current periodicals.|
|Other materials||Material in a variety of different formats. We have a collection of missionary artefacts as well as glass slides, lantern slides, photographs and film.|

|Special Collections||The Angus holds the papers of many leading Baptist figures from the 18th century to the present day, such as, C. H. Spurgeon, Joseph Angus and E. A. Payne. It also holds the minutes, papers, reports and other archival documents of organisations such as the Particular Baptist Society and the Baptist Union. The Baptist Missionary Society archive is also kept at the Angus and comprises of the papers of many missionaries such as William Carey and family, Joshua Marshman, William Ward, Timothy Richard, Ellen Farrer, and William Knibb. It also holds photographs, minutes, correspondence and other documents covering mission fields such as China, India, Congo and the West Indies from 1792 onwards when the BMS was formed.|
|Manuscripts||It holds the manuscript letters and journals of many notable Baptist figures such as C. H. Spurgeon, William Carey and Timothy Richards.|
|Catalogue Type||We have some printed catalogues available covering parts of the collection. Most, though by no means all of our holdings can be found on SOLO OLIS (the University of Oxford library system).|
